Member Updates

The SPSP Government Relations Committee (GRC) is seeking short summaries (100 words or less) of social psychological research that addresses  pressing societal concerns. Examples include research on climate change, opioid use, health care access, sexual assault, etc. We are particularly interested in receiving submissions from graduate students and will offer free SPSP registration for the three best submissions (selected by members of the SPSP GRC). SPSP is pleased to announce the appointment of Jarret Crawford to its Board of Directors. Following the membership vote to approve a new Member at Large, Crawford was appointed by SPSP President Linda Skitka to fulfill the position.

SPSP is fortunate to have over 200 volunteers supporting the many activities of the organization. Some of these positions are multi-year commitments, while some are short-term projects that need support. If you are interested in volunteering, please visit the Get Involved page where you can indicate your interests and learn about various SPSP committees that drive SPSP activities.
The following candidates and bylaw initiatives will appear on the 2019 SPSP Ballot for election to the Board. Descriptions of Board positions and responsibilities can be found here. Their terms will begin January 1, 2020. Links to the online ballot will be e-mailed to eligible members the week of April 8. To be an eligible voter, you must be a full member with a doctorate in psychology and have paid dues through 12/31/2019. President
The first ever SPSP-sponsored summer workshop, which is organized by Sandra Matz (Columbia Business School), Peter J. Rentfrow (Cambridge University, and John T. Jost (New York University) will focus on “Big Data in Personality and Social Psychology.”
